Paycheck & Tax
Paycheck Calculator
Enter your salary and deductions to estimate what actually lands in your bank account each pay period. The result is an estimate, not a payroll guarantee.
How the paycheck estimate works
The calculator subtracts pre-tax 401(k) and health premiums from your gross salary, applies the standard deduction and federal brackets, adds FICA, and subtracts a flat state tax estimate.
Federal brackets used here are for the 2026 tax year. Social Security is taxed up to the 2026 wage base of $184,500; Medicare applies to all wages, with an additional 0.9% above $200,000 for single filers or $250,000 for married filing jointly.
This is a simplified estimate. Your actual withholding depends on your W-4, deductions, credits, local taxes, and benefits.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my actual paycheck different?
Actual withholding depends on your W-4, deductions, credits, pre-tax benefits, and state rules. This calculator uses a simplified federal estimate and a flat state rate.
What is FICA?
FICA is the payroll tax that funds Social Security and Medicare. Employees generally pay 6.2% for Social Security up to the annual wage base and 1.45% for Medicare on all wages.
Are 401(k) and health premiums pre-tax?
Traditional 401(k) contributions and most employer health premiums are deducted before federal income tax. This calculator treats both as pre-tax.
